Chef Mama

I made dinner tonight, I can't tell you the last time I cooked a dinner that wasn't grilled cheese.  This was the reception.

Oh well, I enjoyed it and can't wait for the leftovers for lunch.

Ladies Night

Clare and I have had two ladies nights this week, it’s been kind of nice.  Tuesday night Jeff and his friend went to a heavy metal concert downtown, not my cup of tea but whatever.  We ladies came home and read some books, made diner, took a quick bath and read more books before taking a quick nap.  Why a quick nap?  Clare and I were the chauffer for these metal heads; we loaded up at 11pm and headed downtown to pick them up, certainly not our ideal way to spend an evening, but we were happy to do it to ensure their safety.

I like having nights with just us, it’s kind of fun to do our thing and just be, not that having Jeff around prohibits us from doing that, maybe it’s just that it’s something different that makes it fun. I love my little Lady and Ladies nights are becoming a favorite.

I’m sure Jeff would laugh at our dinner; it was far from gourmet.  We both enjoyed a few Oreo’s for dessert.

Better!

I’m happy to report that Clare is feeling much better.  Friday was by far the worst day; she woke up Saturday with a small fever but a much better attitude.  By Saturday afternoon Clare was fever free, I on the other hand felt like she looked on Friday.   She certainly napped more and ate less but she seemed to be feeling better.

Today was the most ‘normal’ day that we’ve had in two weeks.  Jeff, despite being the latest victim of the crud going around, went to work and we lounged around the house while enjoying a muffin and dancing to her favorite Toddler Tunes DVD.  After a quick vacuum party and cleaning up the kitchen we headed out for a quick errand to test the waters.  I think she fell asleep both on the way to the bookstore and on the way home.  When I woke her up to take her in the house she asked to eat lunch and specifically requested a hot dog; she even ate her hot dog with a fork.

Clare got two new books, a Pooh Look & Find book and Potty Time With Elmo, she can't read them enough!

Clare was reading books while I folded laundry, except when she decided she wanted to turn the light off.

After her nap she was ready to play, and dance of course.  I’m so happy to see my little Lady back to her sweet, playful, happy little self.  I hope that we’re over this bug and that we don’t see another bug for a long long time.

Clare decided she wanted to play with stickers this afternoon, she didn't need any paper.

What are you looking at?

Pneumonia

After hearing Clare cough and moan all night I knew we needed to visit Dr. Dan, when she woke up with a temperature of 102.8 I was completely convinced that we needed an appointment.  So, we waited for them to open at 8:30 and called for the first available appointment at 10:15.

While I took a shower and got ready Clare watched a little bit of Mickey.   She looked so miserable, she was breathing loudly and was hotter than hot.  Seeing my little Lady so sick is heartbreaking!

Normally Clare isn’t a fan of being weighed or measured, she was feeling so crummy that she didn’t mind this visit.  She weighed in at 28lbs 5oz, less than I thought she would.  We didn’t have to wait long for Dr. Dan to come in the room, Clare said hello and let him check her out.  He decided that he could hear a bit of crackling in her right lung and that her right ear was very infected.  To check her lungs he sent us next door for a chest x-ray; this was our first trip ‘next door’ and it was far less traumatizing than I had anticipated.   Clare had two x-rays taken and we were I and out in 15 minutes.  Once back in the room we waited a few more minutes and the results were in.  Dr. Dan was right, she had a bit of both viral and bacterial pneumonia in her lungs, not so much that he was overly concerned but enough to warrant two prescriptions.

After visiting Dada at work we headed to the pharmacy for our prescriptions and a new Pooh book.  As soon as we got home Clare looked ready for a nap, even though she’d slept in the car. I gave her her first dose of meds, which she didn’t mind and even said they tasted yummy.

She’s napping now, I hope she wakes up feeling a little bit better; I hate seeing her feeling so icky.

Watch Window

Clare still isn’t feeling well; everyday since Monday she’s woken up with a fever and has been coughing nonstop.  I’ve been putting off calling Dr. Dan, I’ve been in the ‘what can he do for a cold’ mentality; tonight I decided that our first call at 8am tomorrow will be to Dr. Dan, something just isn’t right.

Luckily Jeff and I had already planned to take turns staying home with Clare today and tomorrow due to Karen being out of town.   Yesterday I stayed home with her and she took a 4hour nap, I didn’t know what to do with myself!  Today she stayed home with Dada; apparently it was a rough day for both.   As much as we love staying home with her we really wish she were feeling well.  Hopefully Dr. Dan can help us figure out just what’s going on and get us our regular sweet happy little Lady back.

Yesterday while we were playing Clare decided she wanted to look out the window; the top of the bookshelf in her room is the perfect height for her to sit on and watch out the window. She was fascinated looking out the window and even helped Bunny get a good look.

Clare is finally getting more teeth, I think she has 9 now.  Lately she's been sticking her bottom jaw out and grinding her teeth, it's an awful noise and I wish she wasn't grinding her beautiful new teeth.

Toddler Tunes

Clare loves to dance, especially to her favorite DVD.  Karen let us borrow the DVD this weekend; we’ve watched it nearly 15 times since Friday evening.  She asks to watch it and then sings along and does the hand motions for her favorite songs.   Some of the songs are cute, but some are definitely a little odd, especially the one where one little boy is pretending to sleep while the other kids are petting him, weird!!

The Itsy Bitys Spider and Wheels On The Bus are her favorite, she also really likes the song that goes ‘there were ten in the bed and the little one said, roll over roll over, so they all rolled over and the one fell out….’ I have no idea what it’s called, but she loves to roll around on the floor during the song.

There is a little boy in the video that looks just like Kinnan, her friend from Karen’s, and every time he comes on the screen she points to him and says ‘Kinnan!’ I can’t tell you how many times Jeff and I have told her that it isn’t Kinnan, there’s no convincing her otherwise.

She walks around pretending to be a duck during this song, so cute!

This morning when Jeff left for work Clare and I were watching the DVD, when he came home we were watching it again for the fifth time; Jeff kindly pointed out that we were in the exact same place as when he left.  She loves this DVD, so much so that I’ve ordered a similar copy and it should arrive on Thursday.

Unfortunately Clare started to run a fever today, it was 102.3 by the time she went to bed.  I texted Karen to let her know that Clare wouldn’t be coming on Tuesday, Karen was sorry to hear she wasn’t feeling well but glad she had her favorite DVD.  I’m sure Jeff and Clare will watch it a few times tomorrow, I hope it helps her feel better.

Waiting for Dada to make her some 'toast' aka grilled cheese.
