This last weekend we hosted the Dallmann’s, Jeff and Melissa
are friends of Jeff’s from when he lived in Eagle; they were on their way to
Denver for a trip to the zoo. We don’t
get to see them often, but it’s always fun when we do. Mya, Maddison and Jace are all fun and Clare
loved having friends at her house to play with.
They arrived late Friday evening, unfortunately Clare couldn’t stay
awake for them, but the kids had fun playing with her toys and winding down after
a long 2 hour ride in the car ride.
Early Saturday morning the kids were up and ready for
action. Clare typically sleeps in
pretty well, sometimes as late at 9:30 if we’re lucky. Mya asked where she was at about 7:10, I told
her she was still asleep, naturally Mya suggested we wake her up. So, Clare woke up at 7:10 and was instantly
ready to play, she didn’t even want to use the restroom she was so
excited. It wasn’t until about 7:30
that they all started to jump on our bed in an effort to wake Jeff up.
After waffles, berries and juice for the kids and
coffee/coke for the adults we all loaded up and headed down to the zoo. Clare was very excited to go to the zoo and
wanted to see monkeys and zebras.
Fortunately, she saw both and her trip to the zoo was a success. The weather was perfect, cool and cloudy
until after lunch when we were heading out.
I wouldn’t typically go to the zoo on a weekend, but it was a great
visit.
This is the first time that we've seen both lions awake, usually they are taking afternoon catnaps when we come to visit.
These monkeys live over in the new elephant exhibit, the black one hung there for a good 10 minutes hoping his friend would move and give him a seat, poor guy had to swing over to the next hole to sit.
This rhino also lives in the new part of the zoo, he seemed pretty happy in his new home.
This is Bodhi, does he look familiar? He's form Columbus!!! He moved here to Denver this past year and is the star of the show. Clare had a great seat to see him walk by going to and from his 'show'.
Clare didn't have much need for the stroller, until she wanted a snack, then she insisted on riding. She's getting so big, the stroller is more for carrying our stuff than pushing her around.
Melissa gave Clare her first tattoo, a Toyota Elephant Passage tattoo.
Melissa also gave Clare her first taste of popcorn. She absolutely loved it and kept asking for more.
Of course no trip to the zoo is complete without a ride, or two, on the carousel.
The second time she rode she wanted to ride the dolphin, but both were taken so she chose the polar bear again. She checked his ears and told me that he didn't have an owie, but the bunny had an owie on his ear. Grammy told her when she came in a few weeks we could go check on the bunny to see if he was feeling better. How does she remember these little things!?!
Not a bad picture from a distance with the iPhone.
